Writing Wednesday - It's The Simple Things

    April awoke just like usual, with subtle golden sunshine shimmering through the thin, pink curtains. She blinked the gunk out of her eyes and sat up sleepily, taking care not to awake her sister, Lillie. Lillie's short, toffee colored hair lay gently around her smooth, resting face. She had nearly entirely kicked the covers off of her side of the bed, so April kindly lifted the blanket up and draped it over her sister's shoulders. 

    With a quick stretch of the arms, April got out of bed and into the family kitchen. She glanced at the digital clock built into their stove. 9:56 am. April quickly prepared a breakfast for her sister, who she predicted would stumble drowsily into the kitchen after about twenty minutes time. Her prediction was nearly spot on, and the girls had microwave waffles and mango smoothies quietly before walking into the bedroom to get dressed.

"We should go on the swing today." April commented as she pulled a shirt over her head. Glancing over, she saw Lillie sprawled out once again on the bed, staring at her laptop screen with a look of utter bliss. "Is it a Gamzee?" 

"Even better!" Lillie cried.

"Nepeta?" April guessed, naming one of Lillies favorite characters from her favorite webcomic, Homestuck.

    Lillie made a small squeak of happiness in reply. April rolled her eyes playfully and told Lillie to hurry up.

    Before too long, the sisters were outside, bouncing and skipping and laughing, making their way to an old rope swing. The spent a long time just taking turns pushing each other back and forth, back and forth, screeches of laughter drifting through the warm morning breeze. This day was going to be a good one.
